ENJOY LIFE WITH YOUR WIFE [AND YOUR HUSBAND], WHOM YOU LOVE
The pro tennis tour, including both men's and women's, has fewer than five players who are married and spend time traveling with their wife and children. The tennis tour ministry that I am involved with includes education of what goes into a good and meaningful, long-lasting relationship and the ability to make a commitment that includes a marriage with a spouse of the opposite sex. Once you accept this responsibility, it is very difficult to have a solid relationship if your spouse and/or children are separated from you for long periods of time.
As I Christian (or, a human being) God should be first in your life. Then the question is, what comes second? Your marriage or your tennis. A person may do anything, but not all actions are good for you.(1 Corinthians 6:12) As a Christian player, you need to know what the Bible teaches about "what a spouse is" and what each others joint responsibilities are. (1 Corinthians 7)
If it is tennis as your choice, then you may very well travel and leave your spouse at home. That can be a recipe for disaster. The pro tour is full of temptations that undermine a marriage. In addition, the day to day joys of living daily life together are not known or enjoyed by either spouse. I would strongly suggest that a player or coach find another line of employment, if the consideration includes making or saving money by not spending time with your family. A marriage can survive these conditions, but only if you are both committed to the marriage.
